Known to be the first version Android Phone, Motorola Droid comes equipped with features that our truly a gadget freak’s delight- 3-7” screen, 854X480 WVGA capacity screen, 5 mega pixel camera with built in facial recognition, ARM Cortex 500 MHz CPU and many more.

It would be a shame to not handle such a phone properly. You need to know about all the special features of this cool phone which comes in only black and titanium colour. Here we have attempted to address some of the most common issues arising in connection with Motorola Droid

2.1 OTA Update Highlights

•	3D image gallery with pinch and zoom
•	News and weather applications
•	Grey launcher
•	Google Goggles
•	3 screens
Few users have also reported to experience reduced 3D network coverage.

Is There a Way to Get More Than 3 Screens offered in the 2.1 OTA Update?

Yes, you can download Helix launcher to your phone which provides not just 3 or 4 but 7 screens! All you need to do is install Helix launcher on your phone, then press home button-Menu- Select Configure-Screen Size and set it according to your wish.

How Does Voice Dialling Works for Droid? Also, Is It Accessible through a Head set as well?

Voice Dialling in Droid matches the sound with names feeded in your contacts section of phone. Let me explain this by an example. Suppose the name reads as Edward Office, then you need to speak ‘Edward Office’ after opening the voice dialling application. It will then ask you to verify the name appearing on screen and after the confirmation by hitting a button screen, the call is executed.

Voice Dialling in Droid is accessible through a wired headset. However, this function is still not compatible with a Bluetooth device.
How to Retrieve Your Icons When They Disappear Upon Closing of Keyboard?
Well, you can simply just take out your batteries and reboot the phone again. If that doesn’t help then you need to do a factory reset.

How to Get Your Droid Modded?

You can use the easiest way available for modding i.e. Droid Mod.

Is it possible to use your Motorola Droid as an e-reader like Amazon Kindel or Sony Reader? Is there an application available for it?

You can try the Aldiko Book Reader available in the market.

Ringtones for Text Messages

Just go to the notification ringtone set up and choose according to your wish.

Does the Droid Screen require a screen protector? And would it alter the touch screen sensitivity?

Droid screen is already made scratch resistant. But if you wish to keep it smudge free, you can have a screen protector. Mostly, it doesn’t hamper with the touch screen sensitivity.

Motorola Droid Froze/Hangs – If your Moto Droid freezes, doesn’t respond to any buttons, and the green light still keeps flashing periodically, just pull out the battery and put it back. This should sort out the problem.

Motorola Droid Camera doesn’t focus when taking a picture: Few users have complained of this. It is probably a software issue, and Motorola would be coming out with solution soon.

Just import your music to your phone, then pull it up to play it. On the bottom menu there will be an option to use the music as a ring tone. Select that and then go to your ring tone list. Your ringtone will be created. In fact there are even Droid apps that you can download for free to create your music.

You can also add music from your computer with the data cord and set it as ring tones.

The GPS service is offered absolutely free of cost.

How to save a specific location on the map application of the Motorola Droid so that I could return to it later?

You can do this by using the “my maps” feature of google maps. The phone also keeps a list of places you navigated to previously.

How to access facebook inbox on the Verizon Droid?

To access the inbox, you can use the browser and go to touch.facebook.com. That makes it easier.

Which iGO charger will fit the Motorola Droid?

A97

How to move your itunes music to the Motorola Droid?

To move your itunes music and playlist to the Motorola Droid you can use a program calles “doubletwist”.

How to sort out trouble with the wi-fi connectivity of the Droid?

If your Motorola droid is connected to wi-fi, but does not connect to web, here are troubleshooting solutions:

In the Wi-Fi settings, manually assign a static IP to the phone. These settings should work with most routers that are still using their default configuration:

When in the Wi-Fi settings menu, press menu and select “Advanced”
IP address: 192.168.0.233

Gateway: 192.168.0.1 (this is the router’s address, which is default for most routers. Do check this in your router’s configuration)

Netmask: 255.255.255.0

DNS 1: 208.67.222.222 This is an open dns which should work for everyone.

DNS 2: 208.67.220.220

You don’t have to use open DNS for your DNS settings but it works for troubleshooting. I don’t like relying on my router for DNS so that’s what I normally use. This isn’t a long term fix, but it will help to see if it’s your phone or your router. Your phone might not be getting an IP from the router properly. Also check for mac address filtering. If you have that setup on your router, it might be an issue. In addition, if you don’t have the router setup to give out more than a couple of IP’s, your phone might not be able to get one.

You can also try changing the Basic Rate to 1-2 Mbps and see what happens. This works for some people as well. Reboot the phone once this is done.
