Smartphones Camera Speed-Is iPhone 4 Faster Than Others?
A comparison between camera speed of iPhone 4, Droid X, SPRINT HTC EVO 4 and Canon Powershot SD4000 digital camera
Smartphones are known for their high resolution camera application. To decide which is the best mobile camera amongst smartphones of various companies is like deciding which part of the rainbow is more colorful!
Thus an analysis was conducted over the cameras of 3 of such smartphones currently active in the market along with a digital camera by Canon, just to check the narrowing distance between a mobile camera and D-SLR!
The comparison is based upon the speed of the camera divided into three parts
Start up speed
Shutter lag
Shot to shot time
Start Up time
It is counted as the time between the start of the camera application to the time first image is clicked! Average start up speed [in seconds] for smartphones and Canon camera as follows
iPhone 4-2.43
HTC EVO- 3.50
Droid X- 2.87
Canon SD4000-2.31
One can significantly see the start up time is indeed better for Canon only, but the difference is almost negligible between camera and iPhone 4!
Shutter Lag
Shutter lag is the time taken for a photo to be clicked once the shutter button is pressed. People mostly complain about the camera being sallow due to slow capture.

Canon SD4000-0.50
Clearly, iPhone 4 has left behind even Canon SD4000 camera with its minimal shutter lag time. Droid X takes the maximum time for the photo to be captured due to focus issue!
Shot to Shot Time
A person prefers a phone in which he can take several shots with minimal time for saving pictures. Average shot to shot time [in seconds]

Once again iPhone 4 beats Canon SD4000 in average shot to shot time. People prefer this phone more over the other smartphones who are slow in comparison!
In conclusion we can say that people still prefer D-SLR cameras because of the sensors attached to them which give an astounding picture quality. But when it comes to choosing a mobile camera phone then iPhone 4 is the top choice!
