How do you delete or realign your icons on Droid?

Just select and hold your finger for a second on the desired icon and you will get the option to delete or move the selected icon.

What is the procedure for stopping a running application that is demanding updates?

You just have to go to the applications tab. Select the option for running services there and stop the desired application.

Supposedly you have transferred a word document from your PC to your Droid. How do you proceed to email it?

All you need to do is open your file in ‘Documents To Go’. Choose ‘send via email’ option and select your desired email application.

P.S. Email application is not present as an option in ‘send via email’ option under ‘Documents To Go’. You can instead compose a new message within the email application and use menu to attach your file.

How can you access internet on your Droid in the absence of a wi fi hot spot or a mobile card? Is there a way to use the internet from a computer in your phone?

There is a new application in the market called EASY TETHER which allows you to use internet on your phone. You have to first download this application on your phone and follow the instructions provided in it. It simultaneously gets downloaded on your PC too. Once the installation is complete, you can access the net on Droid via USB cable.

How do you use wi fi on your Motorola Droid? Is there any other application available that automatically skips the wi fi setting part on your phone?

Go to your phone menu–settings—wireless & networks–check wi fi–select wi fi settings and fix it according to your wish.

Yes, there are in fact two such applications available in the market which gives you relief from wi fi, GPS and brightness settings. Just search the market for ‘Quick Settings’ and ‘Power Control’ application.

Can one move an icon from the front screen of Droid and replace it with another one?

Yes, you can totally replace or delete an icon on the Droid main screen. Just drag the icon say youtube, to the bottom of the screen and delete it. It is a widget which can be recalled at any point of time.

You can also drag and drop the icons on the next screen wherever you like. But deleting these icons is recommended mostly as it is much easier.

Does your Droid accidentally hangs up or mute while on call?

It might be happening due to a bad sensor when your hair or earrings gets mixed up within the sensor proximity. You can test the sensor settings by promptly making a call and holding the phone in front of you. Move your finger to the topmost left hand corner of the phone. If it turns black then your phone is working fine.

Make sure you don’t use the speaker while doing the sensor check.

How do use Text To Speech for texting messages? Can it be used for texting other than messages like emails?

Text To speech is indeed an incredible feature in the Motorola Droid phone. If you are using the virtual keyboard then press the menu key and select microphone. Start talking clearly near the phone speakers and your voice would turn into text on your text box.
Yes, you can use Text To Speech anywhere involving the use of text including emails.

Why don’t you get a notification about OTA upon manually downloading Android 2.1 update on Motorola Droid?

Since you have already uploaded the OTA manually there is no need for confirming the update through a notification on phone. However, if you go to the firmware section in about phone, you will see the 2.1 update visible there.

Are you not hearing a ringtone upon receiving a text message Droid?

Go to sound settings and see whether the box for message ringtones is unchecked. Also, look for your phone volume.
