Honda Oree Electric Motorcycle

Honda has planned to manufacture an electric motor cycle which they plan to launch in 2010-11. They recently revealed a prototype of the Honda Electric Motorcycle called the Honda Oree, which has been designed by two students from a German college. This Honda Electric Motorcycle has generated quite a buzz and is a topic of hot discussion in the market.

The Honda Electric Motorcycle has been developed around the naked street bike concept. The size of the bike looks diminutive, but the ideas behind its construction are not small at all. With a simple ‘less is more’ design, the Honda Electric Motorcycle is quite light and easy to work on.

The electric motor is said to be more advantageous over the traditional fuel motor. The batteries will give it high torque at low revolutions and also quicker acceleration than the current bikes. The initial prototype also manages to exclude the clutch or CVT gearbox. The power transmission on this Honda Electric Motorcycle is directly through the belt drive.

Although the electric motorcycle will use technologies that are not yet in use, it may not cost a fortune, at least which is what Honda has promised. The efficiency of the Honda Electric Motorcycle is also something that we have no details about.

As good as this seems, don’t expect the Honda Oree to hit the roads soon. At the moment, it is just a creative venture and an experiment to look at the various ways in which Honda Electric Motorcycles can be built on electrical technology. Whatever the case, we will be eagerly waiting for the release of this Honda Electric Motorcycle and see more such bikes running on electricity which does not give out CO2.
